Women's Soccer Voted No. 8 in United Soccer Coaches' First Regional Rankings
Purple Knights earned scoreless draws against two of the best teams in the region last week.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – After posting a pair of ties to open the 2024 season, the University of Bridgeport's women's soccer team was slotted No. 8 in the East region according to the first release of the United Soccer Coaches' regional rankings.
The Purple Knights earned scoreless draws against two of the best teams in the region last week. Bridgeport opened with a 0-0 effort against nationally ranked SNHU (No. 1 in the east) before registering another 0-0 decision against SCSU (No. 9 in the east).
Bridgeport's defense has been superb to begin the year, especially sophomore goalkeeper Angelina Griva. The native of Greece has played all 180 minutes in net. She has recorded seven total saves and was named to the CACC's weekly honor roll on Monday.
Senior captain Kristi Jazdzewski has also been stout in leading UB's backline. The Wisconsin native has played all 180 minutes in front of Griva.
The Purple Knights will return to action on Saturday night when they visit Franklin Pierce (6 p.m.).
