FLUSHING, N.Y. – Facing a familiar season-opening foe, the University of Bridgeport's women's soccer team played to a 0-0 draw on Friday against Southern New Hampshire. The tie, which took place at Queens College, snaps an eight-game losing streak for UB against the Penmen.
Angelina Griva, who finished with four shutouts last season, earned the clean sheet on Friday. The sophomore keeper posted four saves, including a crucial stop in the 58th minute.
Griva's quick leg reflexes denied a point-blank opportunity from SNHU's Georgia Green.
Offensively, Tatianna Lizarraga put a team-best three shots on goal while SNHU goalkeeper Claudia Keith finished with five total saves.
UP NEXT
The Purple Knights will play SCSU at Queens College on Sunday at noon. UB has defeated the Owls each of the last three seasons.
