Bridgeport Beaten By Chargers In Final Regular Season Match

Bridgeport, Conn. – The University of Bridgeport women's soccer team fell in a tight 1-0 match versus Dominican University Tuesday evening. Both teams registered four shots on target while Bridgeport managed one more shot with 10 to Dominican's nine. The loss drops UB's season record to 7-7-3 overall and 5-5-1 in the CACC.

The Purple Knights started the more confident of the two team, knocking the ball around well, finding space and getting shots off early. As the game went on, the Chargers grew in confidence and started to take the game to UB.

Isabella Wysocki scored the lone goal of the game when in the 23^rd minute she wiggled her way past one Purple Knight defender and ripped a shot from just outside the penalty area. The ball pinged off the cross bar, down to the ground and spun away from goal. However, the referee's assistant was quick to signal the ball had crossed the line and the Chargers had the 1-0 lead.

Bridgeport came closest to tying things up just after the halftime break when Vivien Ruettgers (Sr., Munich, Germany) dribbled past two defenders, cut the ball back just outside the six-yard box where Junior Kate Thill (Goetzingen, Luxembourg) reached for the deflected ball but was only able to guide it onto the cross bar.

The final buzzer would sound and the Chargers were victorious 1-0 over the Purple Knights.

Up next, Bridgeport awaits results of the final CACC women's soccer match between Thomas Jefferson University and Chestnut Hill College on Thursday, November 2^nd. A Chestnut Hill win would send them ahead of the Purple Knights on a tiebreaker, into the seventh seed with UB in the eighth seed. Anything less than a win will have the reverse be true, Bridgeport seeded seventh and Chestnut Hill, eighth.
