Duluth, Minnesota-Maegen Doyle (Sr., Harwich, England) scored two goals, but it was not enough, as the University of Bridgeport women's soccer team slipped to 0-3-0 on the young 2019 season on Thursday evening, dropping a 3-2 decision at Minnesota Duluth (2-1-0).
The host Bulldogs opening the scoring in the match with a goal in the ninth minute, only to see Doyle net the first tally of her brace in the sixteenth minute to tie things at 1-1 which would be score at the halftime break.
After playing almost 18 minutes into the second half, UMD would tally goals in the 63rd and 66th minutes to take a 3-1 lead which the Purple Knights could not overcome despite Doyle scoring her second goal of the match and the season with just over 10 minutes to play.
Up next, the Bridgeport women's soccer team will close out its season-opening, four-match road swing and trip to the state of Minnesota on Saturday at St. Cloud State University. Game time is set for 12 noon Eastern Time.
