Shirley, N.Y.- Dowling College goalkeeper Melissa Guglielmo made three saves, as the host Golden Lions scored the only goal of the afternoon with 7:12 remaining in the first half, as DC posted a 1-0 East Coast Conference win over the visiting University of Bridgeport Purple Knights on Saturday afternoon on Long Island. Dowling is now 9-3-2 overall and 5-1-1 in conference play. UB is now 8-3-1 overall and 3-3 in the ECC with all three of the team's conference losses coming by one goal on the road.
Early in the first half, at the 14:05 mark, UB freshman Ellen Karlsson (Orebro, Sweden) hit the crossbar, and would prove to be the kind of day it would be on offense for the Purple Knights.
Freshman goalkeeper Kaitlin Occhipinti (Islip, N.Y.) made three stops in net for UB.
The Bridgeport women's soccer team will look to get back in the win column on Wednesday afternoon when they travel to Delaware to face Wilmington University in a non-conference tilt. Match time is slated for 3:30 p/m.
