Bridgeport Women's Soccer Ranked Number 20 In The Nation In 2014 NSCAA/Continental Tire Preseason Poll
Purple Knights Set To Begin Practice On August 18 And Open The Season On September 5
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's soccer team, under the direction of sixteenth year head coach Magnus Nilerud, is ranked number 20 in the country in the 2014 preseason national NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Poll released by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) on August 7.
In 2013, the Purple Knights went 18-3-0, tying the school record for single-season victories and won both the East Coast Conference regular season and tournament championships. UB advanced to the Second Round of the 2013 NCAA Championship Tournament, marking the sixth time in the last seven seasons the team has made an NCAA appearance, before falling to American International College, a Final Four team last season. Bridgeport was ranked as high as number 15 in the nation during the 2013 season and finished the year ranked number 21 in the NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Rankings.
UB opens practice on August 18, and Bridgeport begins its 2014 season versus American International, which is ranked number four in the 2014 NSCAA Preseason Poll, on Friday, September 5 at 2:00 p.m. at the LIU Post Classic on Long Island.
