Purple Knights Check In At Number Three In First NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Regional Rankings Of 2013
UB Heads Into Saturday's Regular Season Home Finale At 14-1-0
Bridgeport, Conn.-Along with being ranked number 16 in the nation by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, the University of Bridgeport women's soccer team, under the direction of head coach Magnus Nilerud, are slotted at number three in the East Region in the first NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Regional Poll of the 2013 season.
The Purple Knights, who are currently 14-1-0 on the season and winners of 14 straight matches, play only one match this week when they host NYIT on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. in the team's final regular season home contest. If UB defeats NYIT on Saturday, the Purple Knights will clinch the top seed in this year's East Coast Conference Women's Soccer Tournament that will being on Thursday, November 7.
The NCAA Regional Poll will help determine the six teams that will receive bids to the 2013 NCAA Division II Women's Soccer National Championship Tournament in November. The winners of the three conference championship tournaments, the East Coast Conference, the Northeast-10 Conference and the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, will receive automatic bids to the NCAA Championship and the other three teams will receive at-large bids based on the regional rankings.
