Currently holds a 10-5 overall record this season with seven decisions and two tech falls.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – In recognition of a superb opening semester, junior Matt Ryan of the University of Bridgeport's men's wrestling team has been nationally ranked No. 20 at 157 lbs by The Open Mat.
Ryan has enjoyed a terrific start to his UB career this fall, compiling a 10-5 overall record for the Purple Knights. Seven of his victories have come by decision, and he has also added two technical falls. Over the last two weekends, Ryan earned notable Division II wins against East Stroudsburg's Gavin Reynolds and UIndy's Luke Robards. Earlier in the year, he turned in a strong showing at the Roger Williams Invitational, finishing fifth in a deep field. The Trumbull native posted a 4-2 record at the event, highlighted by two victories over seeded opponents.
Ryan and the rest of UB's men's wrestling team will return to action on Jan. 3 at the Williams College Open.
