Men's Wrestling Boasts Two Champs and 12 Total Wins at Inaugural Bridgeport Open

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Hosting the inaugural Bridgeport Open, UB's men's wrestling team secured two individual titles and totaled 12 wins on Saturday inside the Wheeler Recreation Center.

TEAM HIGHLIGHTS

Freshman Jaiden Hernandez and sophomore Achilles Clarke led the way for the Purple Knights with impressive runs to their respective bracket championships.

Hernandez dominated the 141-pound division, posting a flawless 3-0 record that included two tech falls and a major decision, continuing a strong season that already features a runner-up finish at the ESU Open and a fifth-place showing at the Roger Williams Invitational.

Clarke was equally sharp at 285 pounds, rolling to a perfect 5-0 day behind two pins and a major decision, improving his season record to 10-6.

The duo's championship efforts anchored a solid overall showing for UB.

Cristian Mendoza (125 lbs), Kamran Dickson (133 lbs) and Christopher Jeudy (197 lbs) also contributed victories, rounding out a productive day on the mats for the Purple Knights.
