Women's Lacrosse Dominates Caldwell at Knights Field, 20-4
Purple Knights inch closer to securing fourth consecutive CACC playoff berth.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – In one of their most dominant efforts of the season, the University of Bridgeport's women's lacrosse team rolled to a 20-4 win over Caldwell on Wednesday at Knights Field. The decisive conference victory pushes the Purple Knights' overall record to 7-4 this season (4-2, CACC).
UB seized control immediately with a 5-0 opening quarter and never looked back, carrying a commanding 12-2 lead into halftime before adding another 5-0 burst in the third to put the game out of reach.
Tara Dimaio powered the offensive explosion, matching her season high with seven goals while setting a new season best with 10 total points on the afternoon.
Freshmen Payton Noack and Dani Strong provided plenty of support, as Noack finished with five goals and a game-high nine draw controls, while Strong added four goals and an assist.
Emily Stuart also made her presence felt, collecting six draw controls to surpass the 200 mark for her career, while Cassidy Dalton chipped in a pair of goals.
Evelyn Edwards helped facilitate the attack with a team-high three assists, matching Dimaio, and Elizabeth Pitts delivered a well-rounded effort with a goal, an assist, three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
As a team, Bridgeport controlled play in every phase, holding advantages in shots on goal (23-7), draw controls (17-9) and ground balls (13-7).
