Dimaio Sets Career Goals, Points Records in Women’s Lacrosse Win at Holy Family
Purple Knights get key conference win to improve to 6-4 overall, 3-2 in the CACC.
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – In a key conference game in terms of the postseason picture, the University of Bridgeport's women's lacrosse team earned a 15-6 win at Holy Family on Saturday. The decisive CACC victory pushes the Purple Knights' record to 6-4 overall, including 3-2 in conference play.
After surrendering the game's opening goal, the Purple Knights quickly took control and never looked back, building a commanding 9-2 lead by halftime. UB continued to pour it on in the second half, stretching its advantage to 12-2 midway through the third quarter before coasting to the win.
Senior Tara Dimaio etched her name further into the program record books in the victory, scoring three goals to become Bridgeport's all-time leader in both career goals (167) and career points (218). The senior surpasses Gabby Valela ('15) in goals and Courtney Forry ('19) in points, further solidifying her legacy in Purple Knights history.
Freshman Dani Strong led the offensive surge with five goals, tying her season-high, while fellow freshman Payton Noack added three goals and an assist.
Noack also dominated the draw circle with a game-high 10 draw controls, maintaining her position atop the CACC in draw controls per game (5.9) this season.
Cassidy Dalton chipped in two goals and an assist, and both Emily Stuart and Evelyn Edwards turned in four-point efforts with a goal and three assists apiece to pace a well-balanced attack.
As a team, Bridgeport controlled the tempo throughout, finishing with a decisive 25-12 advantage in shots on goal and a 14-10 edge in draw controls.
