LAKEWOOD, N.J. – Opening CACC play in the 2026 season, the University of Bridgeport's women's lacrosse team dropped a tightly contested 11-10 overtime battle at Georgian Court on Tuesday afternoon. The setback moves the Purple Knights to 2-2 overall and 0-1 in conference action.
The Purple Knights came out firing, building an early 4-1 advantage behind a dominant first-quarter effort from Tara Dimaio, who netted all four of her goals in the opening frame.
Georgian Court battled back in the second quarter, however, eventually pulling even as part of a game that featured six ties.
From there, the two sides traded blows throughout the second half.
UB regained the lead multiple times, including a late go-ahead tally from Emily Stuart with 3:37 remaining, but the Lions answered with just over a minute left in regulation to force overtime.
Dimaio led the Purple Knights with four goals, reaching the 150-goal milestone for her career, while Stuart added two goals and a season-high eight draw controls.
Dani Strong also scored twice for UB, which held a 14-9 edge in draw controls and outshot the Lions 28-25 in the contest.
The Purple Knights' attack was rounded out by tallies from Payton Noack and Evelyn Edwards.
