The Purple Knights raced out to 6-1 lead after the opening quarter but were outscored 12-6 over the final three periods as Barton rallied for the narrow victory.

After leading 11-8 late in the third quarter, UB regained a 12–11 advantage midway through the fourth on a Dimaio goal before Barton responded with back-to-back tallies to secure the comeback win.
