Women's Lacrosse Slotted Sixth in 2026 CACC Preseason Coaches Poll
Purple Knights to begin new season on Feb. 28 at home against Saint Michael's.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – With the 2026 season opener now less than a month away, the University of Bridgeport's women's lacrosse team was picked to finish sixth in the CACC's preseason coaches poll, released today.
The Purple Knights enter the new year looking to build on a sixth-place finish in the CACC a year ago, posting a 4-5 conference record and a 7-10 mark overall.
Experience will once again be a major strength for the Purple Knights, who return 11 players from last season's roster, including a senior class of seven student-athletes.
Among the top returners is a trio of 2025 CACC All-Conference performers in Tara Dimaio, Emily Stuart and Kaley Maxwell.
Dimaio led UB in goals (52), ground balls (54) and caused turnovers (42), with her caused-turnover total ranking second in the CACC.
Maxwell was also a key defensive presence, ranking second on the team in both caused turnovers (33) and ground balls (35).
Stuart provided all-around production for the Purple Knights, finishing second on the team with 60 draw controls to go along with 27 points (18 goals, nine assists) and 24 ground balls.
Leading the program for a fourth straight season is head coach Jessica Ormrod. Under Ormrod's guidance, Bridgeport posted 10 wins in 2024—her second season at the helm—marking the program's highest single-season win total since 2015.
A full season preview for UB Women's Lacrosse will be posted to UBKnights.com in mid-February.
