Staruk of UB Gymnastics Collects Second GEC Weekly Honor of the Season
Nova earns Specialist of the Week award for third time in her career.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – For the second time in less than a month, junior Nova Staruk of the University of Bridgeport's gymnastics team has been voted as the Gymnastics East Conference Specialist of the Week. She has now won three such honors in her UB career.
Staruk put in another standout performance during UB's victory over SCSU on Sunday. She captured the vault title with a 9.850—her third score of 9.850 this season—which tied for the highest mark recorded on any event during the meet.
Staruk also impressed on floor, placing second with a 9.800 to continue her consistent excellence in the lineup. In 12 combined routines on vault and floor this season, she has posted a 9.750 or better nine times.
UB's gymnastics squad will return to action on Friday night with a quad meet at LIU.
