Gymnastics Posts Narrow Road Win at SCSU

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Competing in a second straight dual meet, the University of Bridgeport's gymnastics team earned a tight win at Southern Connecticut State on Sunday. The Purple Knights' final score of 192.625—their second highest of the year—finished 0.1 better than the Owls.

Individual Highlights
The Purple Knights delivered a well-rounded performance against the Owls, highlighted by a 1-2-3 sweep on vault.
Nova Staruk led the charge with a meet-best 9.850, while Abby Kenney followed closely behind in second with a 9.825. Brooklyn Weingardt rounded out the podium in third with a career-high 9.775, showcasing the Purple Knights' depth in the event.
UB also enjoyed a great showing on bars where Kenney captured the individual title with a 9.800. Samantha Nokes turned in an impressive routine to finish second at 9.750.
Four Purple Knights—Rae Solis, Delphine Desjardins, Emily Hernandez and Nicole Pujals—shared third-place honors with matching scores of 9.650, further emphasizing UB's balance throughout the lineup.
More success for UB came on beam. Kenney and Rian Thompkins tied for first with matching 9.775s while Molly McAleavey added to the team's strong rotation by tying for third with a 9.700. Thompkins posted a new career high in the event.
On floor, Staruk continued her standout meet with a runner-up finish after posting a 9.800. Skyler Vulchev tied for sixth with a 9.700, while Maggie Coyle added a ninth-place effort with a 9.600.
