UB Gymnast Abby Kenney Named CSC Academic All-American
Earns spot on At-Large Third Team after sensational junior campaign.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Junior Abby Kenney of the University of Bridgeport's gymnastics team has been selected as a 2025 Academic All-American by the College Sports Communicators (CSC). She is the only Division II gymnast in the country to be tabbed to the At-Large team which was announced by the CSC on Tuesday.
Kenney, who currently sits with a 3.72 cumulative GPA (Psychology), put together an incredible junior campaign for the Purple Knights. Most notably, she was named the WCGA's Division II Co-Gymnast of the Year after also being selected as a regular-season All-American by the same organization. She followed that up by earning three more first-team All-America nods (floor, beam, bars) at the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics National Invitational Championship (WCGNIC).
Kenney saved some of her best work for last as she registered a season-best mark in the all-around (39.125) during the team finals of the WCGNIC to help the Purple Knights finish third. The New Jersey native also posted a season-high mark on vault (9.800) that night while her other season-best scores include a 9.775 on bars, a 9.875 on beam and a 9.825 on floor. All in all, she piled up 24 different scores of 9.75 or better during the 2025 season.
Kenney's masterful campaign also featured a remarkable five All-GEC accolades which included all four events and the all-around. Additionally, she won the all-around competition at seven different meets this season while also picking up a pair of GEC Gymnast of the Week awards.
Academically, she was named a GEC Scholar Athlete for the third straight year. Kenney posted a perfect 4.0 GPA during the spring semester.
The CSC Academic All-American program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field of competition and in the classroom, while the at-large division recognizes individuals from sports not part of their own standalone division within the program.
