Staruk of Gymnastics Named GEC Specialist of the Week
Tallied top vault score at both LIU and Ursinus meets last week.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Following a pair of terrific performances last week, sophomore Nova Staruk of the University of Bridgeport's gymnastics team was named the GEC's Specialist of the Week on Wednesday. She joins both Lola Sepulveda and Abby Kenney as UB's weekly award winners so far this season.
Staruk enjoyed her best stretch of the year last week during UB's meets at LIU and Ursinus. The Massachusetts native won the vault on both occasions, beginning with a 9.800 on Monday followed by a season-best mark of 9.825 just five days later.
Staruk also made the most of her season debut in the floor lineup on Sunday. Staruk delivered a routine of 9.700 which finished tied for fourth amongst all competitors.
Staruk and the rest of UB's gymnastics team will return to action this Friday night in a tri-meet at Southeast Missouri State.
