UB's Christine Liautaud Selected Third Team National NCAA Division II CoSIDA At-Large Academic All-America
Honor Marks Fourth Time In Last Three Years A Bridgeport Student-Athlete Has Earned National Academic All-America At-Large Accolades
Bridgeport, Conn.-University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics standout Christine Liautaud (Jr., Cary, Illinois) has earned a Third Team National spot on the CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) Women's NCAA Division II Academic All-America At-Large Team. Student-athletes who compete in fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, sand volleyball and water polo may be nominated for the CoSIDA Academic At-Large Team for women. Christine moved onto the national ballot after her First Team All-District® Academic All-America selection in early May,
Liautaud, a business administration major with a 3.88 grade point average, is a 2016 NCAA Qualifier on the uneven bars. She is the 2016 USAG National Champion and All-America on the bars plus was selected as the 2016 ECAC Division II Specialist of the Year, as she helped Bridgeport win its eighth consecutive ECAC D II Team title.
Her selection marks the fourth time in the last three seasons a Purple Knight has earned a spot on the At-Large National Academic All-America squad joining men's swimmers Oscar Pereiro and Ruben Gimenez.
The 2015-16 CoSIDA Academic All-America Men's and Women's At-Large Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, have been released to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
The Division II and III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2015-16 DII and DIII Academic All-America® teams program.
