Two Purple Knights Earn Weekly ECAC Corvias Women's Gymnastics Awards
Sophomore Kelsey Campbell And Junior Brianna Comport Recognized For Their Outstanding Performances Last Weekend
Danbury, Conn.-Two members of the University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team have been selected as winners of Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Corvias Women's Gymnastics Athletes of the Week Awards for the week ending February 14, 2016 for their outstanding performances in a pair of dual meets over the weekend.
Sophomore Kelsey Campbell (Las Vegas, Nev.) earned ECAC Corvais Division II Gymnast the Week honors, and junior Brianna Comport (Gilbertsville, Pa.) was selected as the ECAC Division II Specialist of the Week
Campbell tied her season-best in the all-around last week, posting a combined total of 38.550 to win the all-around title in the Purple Knights' meet against Southern Connecticut State University last Friday. The sophomore then finished in third place in the all-around in the Knights' meet against Brown two days later, paced by a second-place effort on the bars (9.775).
Comport earned a 9.9 on the balance beam tying a career-best at Brown on Sunday. The junior also had a strong showing at the Knights' first outing of the week against Southern Connecticut State on Friday, posting a 9.825 in the floor exercise to anchor Bridgeport.
This weekend the University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team will be in action on Sunday in a quad meet hosted by Southern Connecticut State University.
