Three Purple Knights Honored By ECAC With Weekly Women's Gymnastics Awards
Lissette La Fex, Brianna Comport and Kamri Riles Recognized For Their Outstanding Performances At Last Saturday's Yale Invitational
Centerville, Mass.-Three University of Bridgeport women's gymnasts have been selected as this week's Corvias ECAC Division II Women's Gymnasts of the Week. Senior Lissette La Fex (Diamond, Bar, California) has earned Gymnast of the Week honors; freshman Brianna Comport (Gilbertsville, Pa.) was named Rookie of the Week, and senior Kamri Riles (Ellenwood, Georgia) was selected as Specialist of the Week. The trios' outstanding performance helped the Purple Knights win Saturday's Yale University Invitational in New Haven, Connecticut.
La Fex won the all-around title at Yale posting a total score of 38.650 in the afternoon's four events, as she won the bars with a score of 9.800, tied for third in the floor exercise with a score of 9.725 and tied for fifth in the vault with a score of 9.725. Saturday's win was Lissette's second straight all-around win.
Comport was the Purple Knights top finisher on the balance beam grabbing fifth place with a score of 9.675 at Saturday's Yale Invitational.
Riles helped Bridgeport win the four-team Yale Invitational on Saturday afternoon with strong performances in the floor exercise tying for first place (9.775) and tying floor second in the vault (9.800).
The University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team is idle for the next two weeks until they return to action at the University of Nebraska on Sunday, February 23.
