Melissa Doucette Selected ECAC Division II Women's Gymnast Of The Week
Honor Marks The Second Consecutive Week A UB Gymnast Has Won The Award
Centerville, Mass.-University of Bridgeport senior Melissa Doucette (Somersworth, N.H.) has been selected as the Corvias ECAC Division II Women's Gymnast of the Week for her outstanding performance in the Purple Knights' tri-meet with Temple and Southern Connecticut State on January 16, 2014. Doucette's honor marks the second consecutive week that UB has received Corvias ECAC Division II Women's Gymnast of the Week accolades, as teammate, freshman Amber Hill (Windsor Locks, Conn.) won the first award of the 2014 season on January 14.
Doucette won the all-around title last Thursday night with a total of 38.650 for the four events. Doucette took first place on the vault (9.875), fourth on the floor (9.675), sixth on the bars (9.600) and was tenth on the beam (9.500).
This week, the University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics teams travels to Brown University for a quad-meet on Sunday, January 26.
