CALDWELL, N.J. – Continuing a seven-game conference stretch to close out the regular season, the University of Bridgeport's women's basketball team suffered a 66-52 defeat at Caldwell on Wednesday night. The loss shifts the Purple Knights' CACC record to 7-8 this season which puts them sixth in the conference standings.
After a tight opening period, Caldwell outscored the Purple Knights by 12 in the second frame, sending Bridgeport into the locker room trailing by 13.
The Purple Knights responded with a stronger second half, playing Caldwell nearly even over the final 20 minutes but never quite closing the gap.
A trio of UB players finished in double figures, led by Savannah Prescott with a team-high 11 points. She has now reached double figures in 14 games this season (team high).
Zahkiyyah Frazier and Jaelyn Choi each added 10 points, while Nicole Benini followed closely with nine.
Frazier once again anchored the Purple Knights on the glass, pulling down 12 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season. She continues to sit third in the CACC in rebounds per game (9.6) this season.
Niyah Whitten contributed a well-rounded performance with seven points, a team-best four assists, one steal and one block, while Choi ranked second on the team with a season-high six rebounds.
Despite outrebounding Caldwell and matching the Cougars' scoring output in the second half, UB was unable to overcome the decisive second-quarter surge.
