LAKEWOOD, N.J. – Beginning a three-game conference road stretch, the University of Bridgeport's women's basketball team was defeated at Georgian Court on Saturday by a score of 51-44. The loss puts the Purple Knights' record at 9-10 overall this season and 7-7 in CACC play.
Sophomore India Lee led the Purple Knights with a career-high 14 points off the bench, scoring 12 of her points in the second half.
Classmate Zahkiyyah Frazier also provided a spark off the bench, finishing with eight points and a game-high 10 rebounds for her ninth double-digit rebounding performance of the season.
Another sophomore, Savannah Prescott, joined Lee in double figures with 10 points and added 10 rebounds (team high) for her fourth double-double of the year, while also leading Bridgeport with three steals—her ninth game this season with at least three takeaways.
The Purple Knights were held scoreless for the first five minutes of the game and fell behind 9-0 before getting on the board at the 4:41 mark of the opening quarter.
Despite the slow start, UB responded with strong defensive play and closed the first half within striking distance, trailing just 22-18 at the break.
Georgian Court created separation early in the third quarter by opening the second half on an 11-3 run to push the margin to double digits.
Bridgeport continued to battle and cut the deficit to four with 46 seconds remaining but was unable to complete the comeback down the stretch.
