Women's Basketball Rolls Past Post to Stay Perfect in CACC Play
Purple Knights tally highest shooting percentage since 2010.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Fueled by their best shooting performance in more than a decade, the University of Bridgeport's women's basketball team surged past Post, 65–42, on Wednesday night inside Hubbell Gym. The decisive win pushes the Purple Knights' record to 3-2 this season, including 2-0 in the CACC.
UB's dominance against the Eagles featured a scorching 61.4 percent (27-for-44) clip from the field—its highest single-game mark since 2010—while also setting season highs with eight made three-pointers and 22 assists on 27 made baskets.
The Purple Knights controlled the glass throughout as well, outrebounding Post 37–23 and used a 22-point third quarter to break the game open.
Individually, sophomore Zahkiyyah Frazier powered the offense with a career-high 19 points on 8-for-11 shooting, while Niyah Whitten (13 points) and Karolina Andersson (9 points, 7 rebounds) also provided strong support.
UB's bench added 19 points in the win, highlighted by Laia Albas' eight-point burst.
Additional stat leaders for Bridgeport included sophomore Savannah Prescott grabbing a career-high eight rebounds and Nicole Benini dishing out six assists.
UB controlled the game from the opening tip, jumping out to a 15–5 lead after the first quarter and never looking back. The Purple Knights stretched their advantage to as high as 28 points late in the third quarter.
Wednesday's victory not only showcased UB's most efficient outing in more than a decade but also snapped a seven-game losing streak to Post.
