Whitten and Cevallos of Women's Basketball Named to CSC's Academic All-District Team

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – In honor of standout efforts, both in the classroom and on the court, junior Niyah Whitten and sophomore Ciera Cevallos of the University of Bridgeport's women's basketball team were each named to the College Sports Communicators' Academic All-District Team on Tuesday.
The 2025 Academic All-District® Basketball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
Whitten, who owns a 3.72 GPA as a psychology major, appeared in 27 games for UB last season with 25 starts. She ranked second on the team in scoring (7.2 ppg) while leading UB with 32 made three-pointers. Whitten tallied double-figure points in nine contests, including a season-best 17 in a win over Bloomfield on Dec. 3. She also tallied season bests in both rebounds (6) and assists (5) versus SNHU on Dec. 14.
Cevallos, meanwhile, boasts a 3.60 GPA as a psychology major and saw action in 26 games for the Purple Knights (11 starts). She put together averages of 3.5 points, 1.1 assists and 1.1 rebounds per game. Cevallos registered season highs in both points (15) and assists (5) against SNHU on Dec. 14 while also notching 10 points versus Franklin Pierce on Jan. 2.
