Women's Basketball Defeated by Pace in Non-Conference Action
Zahkiyyah Frazier led the way with career highs in both points (16) and rebounds (9).
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Playing their final home game of the calendar year, the University of Bridgeport's women's basketball team dropped a 68-48 matchup to Pace University on Wednesday.
The final score told only part of the story between the Purple Knights and Setters. The game was tied after the first quarter while Pace led by just seven at both halftime and after 30 minutes of action.
Ultimately, the Setters used a 13-2 run in the fourth quarter to stretch out their advantage and help clinch the win.
Individually, the Purple Knights were led by a breakout game from Zahkiyyah Frazier. The rookie, who finished 7-of-9 from the field, racked up career highs in both points (16) and rebounds (9) in her seventh start of the season.
Niyah Whitten, UB's leading scorer through 12 games, also finished in double figures with 10 points.
Harmony Earth-Wiley served as another bright spot for UB. She finished with a balanced stat line of three points, six rebounds, four assists and three blocks.
Other highlights for the Purple Knights including a season-best eight points from freshman India Lee and a team rebounding edge of 38-33.
Bridgeport's final offensive numbers featured an 18-for-51 clip from the field, a 3-of-19 tally from three-point range and a 9-for-18 effort from the free-throw line.
