BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Continuing a three-game home stretch before Thanksgiving break, the University of Bridgeport's women's basketball team (0-5) was defeated by AIC on Saturday by a score of 70-48.
The Purple Knights were led by a pair of 11-point efforts from Niyah Whitten and Shakira Hester. Hester also hauled in a team-high nine rebounds and swatted a team-best four blocks.
Whitten, meanwhile, finished with a team-high three assists.
Hester is now sporting averages of 10.8 points, 9.4 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per contest this season.
UB's bench provided a small spark for the Purple Knights, including six points from freshman India Lee on 3-of-4 shooting. Adalise Carabello also came off the bench and made UB's second three-pointer of the game.
Collectively, Bridgeport shot 18-of-59 (30.5%) from the field, including 2-for-20 (10.0%) from three-point range.
