Bloomfield, N.J.-The University of Bridgeport women's basketball team wrapped up its 2022-23 season on Wednesday night to a 59-45 road conference loss against the Bears of Bloomfield College. UB finishes the year with a 9-18 overall mark and a 5-13 record in its first season in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference. Bloomfield is now 5-21 overall and 4-13 in the CACC.
Amani Melendez (Fr., Woodbridge, Va.) led the Purple Knights in scoring on Wednesday with a game-high 20 points. Amani finished this season as UB leading scorer averaging 14.4 points per game during her first season in a Purple Knights' uniform.
Senior Stephanie McBride (Brooklyn, N.Y.) closed out and outstanding season on a high note, as she notched another double-double with 10 points and a game-best 16 rebounds. Stephanie averaged nearly a double-double in 2022-23 at 12.4 points and 9.9 rebounds per outing. She also blocked three shots against the Bears to finish with a total 54 blocks this year.
