Lakewood, N.J.-The host Lions of Georgian Court University raced out to a 12-0 lead to begin the game and never trailed in the contest on their way to 77-59 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's basketball win over the visiting University of Bridgeport Purple Knights on Saturday afternoon in the Garden State. UB is now 8-13 overall and 4-8 in the CACC, and GCU moves to 7-10 overall and 5-6 in conference play.
Senior Stephanie McBride (Brooklyn, N.Y.) posted her fifth double-double of the season to lead Bridgeport with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
She was joined in double-figure by Amani Melendez (Fr., Woodbridge, Va.), who reached double digits for the twelfth straight contest, with 11 points, and Vienna Knox (Sr., Middletown, Conn.) chipped in a season-best 10 points.
Up next, the UB women's basketball team continues its three-game road swing looking to snap a five-game losing skid at Dominican University New York on Tuesday night. Tip-time is set for 5:30 p.m.
