Stephanie McBride Selected As ECC Women's Basketball Defensive Player Of The Week For Second Straight Time
Helped The Purple Knights Knock Off Unbeaten Pace In Team's Only Action Last Week
West Babylon, N.Y.-For the second straight week, University of Bridgeport women's basketball standout Stephanie McBride (Jr., Brooklyn, N.Y.) has been named the East Coast Conference's Defensive Player of the Week for her fine play that took place in games taking place from November 29 through December 5, 2021.
McBride continued to be a force in the paint for the Purple Knights grabbing 15 rebounds (12 defensive boards), making two steals and blocking a shot in UB's win over previously unbeaten Pace University last Friday night. She also chipped in seven points and had two assists in Bridgeport's only action last week. Stephanie is averaging a double-double so far this season, leading UB in rebounding averaging 10.3 rebounds and 13.5 points per outing.
Teammate Samirah Henderson (Grad., Rahway, N.J.) earned a sport in this week's ECC Honor Roll for her excellent play in the victory over Pace.
This week, the UB women's basketball team, who enter play at 3-3 overall, will have a busy week playing road games versus Felician on Tuesday, D'Youville on Friday and Daemen on Sunday.
