Bridgeport, Conn.- The University of Bridgeport women's basketball team fell in its second game of the young 2018-19 season at the UB Women's Basketball Conference Crossover Classic on Sunday, as the visiting Southern Connecticut State University Owls topped the Purple Knights, 73-55. With the loss, Bridgeport is now 0-2 overall; while SCSU moves to 2-0.
UB kept it close in the first quarter trailing by only one, 15-14, after the first ten minutes, but SCSU pulled away by taking an 11-point lead at halftime.
Freshman Gianna Gotti (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) led UB with 18 points and had four rebounds. Senior Samnell Vonleh (Swampscott, Mass.) contributed 11 points and pulled down five rebounds. Junior Judit Valls Dellavalle (Barcelona, Spain) helped the Purple Knights on the boards by leading the team with six rebounds.
