Purple Knights Set To Open The 2016-17 Season At Home Against Philadelphia U. On Saturday Afternoon
Kingston, R.I.-The University of Bridgeport women's basketball team traveled to Division I University of Rhode Island on Monday night for the Purple Knights final tune-up before the start of the 2016-17 season, and the host Rams posted a 61-43 exhibition win.
Newcomer, senior Camera Miley (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led the Purple Knights in scoring with 10 points.
Three players, seniors Louise Ovner (Vallentuna, Sweden) Aaliyah Mercer (Bronx, N.Y.) plus sophomore Samnell Vonleh (Swampscott, Mass), each had eight points on the night for UB.
Graduate student Anastasia Williams (Central Islip, N.Y.) finished with 12 rebounds to lead Bridgeport.
Up next, the Bridgeport women's basketball team will open the 2016-17 regular season at home on Saturday, November 12 versus Philadelphia University at 4:00 p.m. as part of the UB Women's Hoops Crossover Classic.
