Bridgeport, Conn.- The University of Bridgeport women's basketball team closed out its 2015-16 home schedule with a tough 70-65 loss against East Coast Conference opponent St. Thomas Aquinas. The loss takes the Purple Knights to an overall record of 9-18 and an ECC Mark of 7-12. STAC improves its record to 17-10 overall and 10-9 in the ECC.
UB entered the locker room at half only trailing by two, 27-25, but the Lady Spartans opened the second half with a 5-0 run and the Purple Knights never recovered.
Two Purple Knights had double-double on the evening, as freshman Kadijah Dickson (Queens, N.Y.) scored 13 points and had 11 rebounds, and junior Evelyn Ovner (Vallentuna, Sweden) netted 14 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.
Freshman Briana Stoddart (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led Bridgeport in scoring with 17 points
Jenna Erickson had a game-high 20 points to lead the Lady Spartans.
The UB women close out the season this Saturday, February 27 by visiting ECC rival Mercy College. Game time is set for 12:00 noon.
