Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's basketball team never led against the Roberts Wesleyan Redhawks in Friday's East Coast Conference match-up, as RWC defeated Bridgeport 79-68. UB is now 3-7 in the season and 1-1 in the ECC; while the Redhawks move to a 9-1 overall season record and a 1-1 conference mark.
Freshman Briana Stoddart (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led all scorers in the game with 23 points. Teammate, sophomore Sofia Ermeidou (Athens, Greece) was next in line for the Purple Knights with 17 points.
On the glass for UB, freshman Nicole Johnson (Newark, N.J.) grabbed nine rebounds, junior Louise Ovner (Vallentuna, Sweden) added eight and sophomore Morgen Caution (Baltimore, Md.) chipped in seven boards.
Samantha Courtney led Roberts Wesleyan with a double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds.
The UB women's basketball team will play host on Sunday, December 20, against ECC opponent Damen College at 1:00 p.m.
