Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's basketball team never led in the game, as the Purple Knights suffered a 73-42 home east Coast Conference loss against the visiting NYIT Bears on Saturday afternoon. UB is now 3-5 overall and 1-1 in the ECC, as the team saw its two-game winning streak snapped. NYIT ups its overall mark to 8-5, and the Bears are 3-0 in conference play.
Bridgeport was led in scoring by junior Louise Ovner (Vallentuna, Sweden) with 11 points, and sophomore Morgen Caution (Baltimore, Md.) chipped in 10 points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
Dina Ragab led four NYIT players in double-digit scoring with 19 points, and she finished with a double-double corralling 13 rebounds.
The UB women's basketball team is back on the court on Wednesday night, when the Purple Knights host Holy Family University. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m. in Hubbell Gym.
