Mya Jones of Softball Earns CACC Player of Week Honors
Fifth career weekly conference award and second POTW honor this season.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Following another super stretch at the dish for the University of Bridgeport's softball team, senior Mya Jones was selected as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference's Player of the Week on Monday. Jones picks up her fifth career CACC weekly award and second Player of the Week honor this season.
Jones enjoyed a sensational week at the plate, batting .615 with five RBIs and three runs scored across four games. She delivered in the clutch on Saturday, ripping a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh to lift the Purple Knights to a 4-3 win over Chestnut Hill. Jones also added her 18th career home run later that day. Her hot stretch pushes her batting average to .410 this season (4th, CACC) while raising her on-base percentage to .484, which ranks second in the conference.
Jones and the rest of UB's softball team will return to action on Tuesday with a doubleheader at Felician (2 p.m.).
