BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Playing their final non-conference games of the regular season, the University of Bridgeport's softball team (18-14) split a doubleheader against Saint Thomas Aquinas College (16-12) on Wednesday at Seaside Park. UB opened with a 5-2 win over the Spartans before dropping a 12-7 decision in the finale.
GAME ONE – Bridgeport 5, STAC 2
The Purple Knights totaled nine hits in the win, with four different players recording multi-hit games while four of those hits went for doubles.
Sydnee Perreault led the offensive charge, driving in three runs with a two-run single in the second inning before adding an RBI double in the fourth to extend the lead.
Isabella Benjamin also played a key role at the plate, finishing with two doubles and an RBI.

The Purple Knights broke the game open with a three-run second inning and continued to build their advantage with single runs in the third and fourth frames.
In the circle, Vise Zarate was outstanding, tossing a complete game to earn her 10th win of the season. The right-hander allowed just two runs on five hits while striking out six to secure the victory.
GAME TWO – STAC 12, Bridgeport 7
A six-run third inning by STAC proved to be the turning point, as the Purple Knights were unable to fully recover despite multiple late pushes.
Perreault continued her torrid stretch at the plate, launching a pair of two-run home runs while finishing with four RBIs in the game. The junior closed the doubleheader 4-for-8 with seven RBIs and is now batting .486 (18-for-37) with 16 RBIs over her last 10 games.
UB battled back into the contest with a three-run fifth inning, highlighted by a two-run single from Lacie Grenier, who also added a double later in the game.
The Purple Knights struck again in the seventh on Perreault's second home run of the day but could not overcome the deficit.
Grenier finished with a pair of RBIs in her multi-hit effort, while the Purple Knights totaled seven hits overall.
