BENSALEM, Pa. – Opening up their 18-game CACC schedule, the University of Bridgeport's softball team (13-9, 1-1 CACC) split a doubleheader at Holy Family on Saturday afternoon. The Purple Knights rebounded from a 10-5 loss in the opener with a 9-6 win in the finale.

UB erupted for five runs in the fourth and the fifth innings to turn a 6-4 deficit into a 9-6 victory in the second game of the day.
After falling behind midway through, the Purple Knights chipped away before delivering the decisive blow in the fifth inning.
Mya Jones ignited the comeback with an RBI single to give UB a 7-6 edge, and moments later, Paityn Thibodeaux launched a two-run home run—her second long ball of the day and team-leading fourth of the season—to cap a three-run frame and put Bridgeport firmly in control.
Jones was outstanding at the plate, finishing 3-for-4 with two doubles, three RBIs and two runs scored, recording run-producing hits in three different innings.
The Purple Knights totaled nine hits in Game Two, with contributions throughout the lineup, including RBIs from Isabella Benjamin, Sophia Philippou, Alyssa Castillo and Breanna Pelaez.
In the circle, Samantha Ledger earned the win, tossing 5.2 innings while allowing four earned runs and striking out five to improve to 5-2 on the season.

UB saw tight contest slip away in the middle innings of the opener, as a decisive fifth inning proved to be the difference.
Bridgeport initially showed resilience, responding to a four-run fourth inning by the Tigers with a three-run fifth to even the score at 4-4.
Benjamin delivered an RBI double before Genna D'Amato followed with a two-run single.
Holy Family answered in the bottom half of the inning, tallying six runs on five hits to turn a tie game into a 10-4 deficit.
Offensively, the Purple Knights were paced by Jones, who went 1-for-3 with an RBI, while Thibodeaux added a solo home run and Benjamin and D'Amato each drove runs as part of UB's eight-hit effort.
