Softball's Season Ends With 4-2 Loss to SNHU in NCAA Regional
Purple Knights close 2025 with 33-16 record.
NEW CASTLE, Del. – The University of Bridgeport's softball team had its season come to a close on Friday with a 4-2 loss to SNHU at the NCAA East Regional. The Purple Knights end their terrific year with an overall record of 33-16.
Facing elimination, UB scored the game's first run in the top of the first inning. Madison D'Amato led off the contest with a triple before coming home on a sacrifice fly from Mya Jones.
After scoring the first tally of the contest, D'Amato knocked in UB's second run of the game with a sac fly in the sixth.
D'Amato wraps up her marvelous senior campaign with 74 total hits (five more than any other player in the region), a .451 batting average and 55 runs scored. She also finished up with a .521 on-base percentage.
Jones, meanwhile, picked up her 50th RBI of the season which puts her at 134 for her career. She also reached the 50-RBI mark as a freshman.
Emily Chase, who scored UB's second tally on D'Amato's sac fly, went a team-best 3-for-3 in the contest.
Kaite Burawski was dealt the loss for UB in the circle. The left-hander caps off a masterful career that features over 1,000 career strikeouts and a career ERA of just 1.93 across 737 innings.
During Burawski's time at Bridgeport, the Purple Knights have gone to four NCAA Tournaments and amassed 157 total wins.
Vise Zarate pitched well in relief of Burawski on Friday. The junior didn't allow a run across 4.2 innings while yielding just three hits.
SNHU put all four of their runs across in the second inning.
