Softball Has Four Earn NFCA All-Region Honors
Kaite Burawski and Mya Jones tabbed to First Team; Madison D’Amato and Angela Oros named to Second Team.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – On the same day as the start of the 2025 NCAA East Regional, four members of the University of Bridgeport's softball team were named National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-East Region on Thursday. UB's four honorees served as the second most of any school in the region.
Kaite Burawski and Mya Jones saw their names on the NFCA's All-Region First Team while Madison D'Amato and Angela Oros were each tabbed to the Second Team.
Burawski, who was named the CACC's Pitcher of the Year, led the conference in almost every pitching category this spring. Prior to the postseason, she put together a 17-4 record with 160 strikeouts in 137.2 innings pitched. Burawski ranked No. 1 in the conference in all of those categories while also being second in the league in ERA (1.73). She also piled up 22 complete games, six shutouts and reached double-figure strikeouts on seven occasions.
Burawski followed up her regular season with a pair of solid outings in the CACC Tournament. She allowed just two earned runs across 14.0 innings of work. Burawski then eclipsed 1,000 career strikeouts on Thursday during UB's first NCAA Tournament game versus Goldey-Beacom. She now has 1,001 career punch outs and a 1.92 career ERA across 735.2 innings pitched.
Jones, who was also named to the CACC's All-Conference First Team, was equally outstanding during her junior campaign. She currently sits with the second-most RBIs (49) of any player in the east region this season. Jones also possesses a batting average of .413 and an on-base percentage of .479, both of which rank fifth in the region. She has at least one hit in 33 games while tallying multiple knocks in 20 different contests. Jones has now put together 133 career RBIs and 162 career hits in her three seasons at UB.
Jones' accolades this season features her being named to the NFCA's DII Player of the Year Watchlist on March 28 while being selected as the CACC Player of the Week on March 24.
D'Amato, meanwhile, is amid one of the best seasons in school history. The Rhode Island native leads the region in total hits (73) while ranking second in batting average (.453), on-base percentage (.527) and runs scored (54). D'Amato is also slotted fifth in the country in doubles this season with 20. The captain's year was highlighted by a remarkable 32-game hitting streak that spanned over six weeks of the season. The incredible run goes down as the sixth-longest hitting streak in Division II softball history. D'Amato has at least one hit in 43 games while finishing the regular season with the 11th-best batting average in the country.
D'Amato joined Jones on the NFCA's Division II Player of the Year Watchlist earlier this season. She has now played in 201 career games at UB with career totals of 243 hits and 193 runs scored.
Oros adds another recognition to her superb three-year career at UB. The Arizona native, who was a second-team All-Region honoree last season, provided the power in UB's prolific lineup this year. Oros launched a team-high 10 home runs in 2025—a total that ranks third in the region. She is also now tied with her teammate Jones for the second most RBIs (49) in the region as well. In addition to the home runs, Oros also had 13 doubles and three triples as she led UB in extra-base hits (26) this season. In 22 conference games, Oros led the CACC in slugging, RBIs and home runs.
Oros was a second-team All-CACC selection this spring. She was named the conference's Player of the Week on March 17.
The University of Bridgeport's softball team will return to action on Friday. The sixth-seeded Purple Knights take on seventh-seeded SNHU in an NCAA Regional elimination game at 2 p.m.
