BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Continuing a stretch of four home doubleheaders to close out the 2025 regular season, the University of Bridgeport's softball team tallied a Senior Day sweep of Holy Family on Saturday. The Purple Knights' wins of 9-2 and 3-0 put their record at 29-11 overall this season and 18-2 in the CACC (first place).
GAME ONE – Bridgeport 9, Holy Family 2
A trio of Purple Knights served as the catalysts for UB in the opener.
Offensively, Angela Oros and Mya Jones combined to go 4-for-6 with eight RBIs and four runs scored while Bridgeport's starting pitcher Kaite Burawski tossed her 17th complete game of the season.
Oros hit a two-run home run in the first inning before launching a grand slam in the fifth. She is now tied atop the CACC in long balls this season (9) and ranks second in the conference in slugging percentage (.744).
Jones, meanwhile, put UB on the board with an RBI single in the first before nailing a solo home run in the third. She sits with a team-high 47 RBIs this season which is second in the CACC.
On the other side of the ball, Burawski allowed just one earned run on five hits across seven innings of work. She finished with six strikeouts to put her league-leading total at 149 this season.
Burawski, who now holds a 15-4 record (75 career wins), currently sits with a 1.87 ERA in 123.2 innings pitched—a mark that ranks second in the CACC.
GAME TWO – Bridgeport 3, Holy Family 0
Junior right-hander Vise Zarate sparked the Purple Knights in the finale. The California native registered her third complete-game shutout of the season, allowing just three hits in the process.
With Zarate posting zero-after-zero, it was once again UB's top of the order that propelled their attack.
Madison D'Amato, who leads the CACC in batting average (.477) and total hits (63) this season, reached base three times on a double, a single and a walk.
D'Amato, who recently had a 32-game hitting streak snapped, continues to be ranked No. 1 in the conference in on-base percentage (.557), runs scored (49), doubles (18) and walks (21).
Oros and Jones, meanwhile, each registered sacrifice flies in the finale. Jones also raced to her first-career triple in the sixth inning.
Freshman Paityn Thibodeaux extended an impressive individual streak in the finale. She logged two more hits (and a sac bunt) to put herself at 8-for-8 with two walks over her last four games of action.
