Softball Trio Selected to NFCA's DII Player & Pitcher of the Year Watchlist
UB’s three representatives are the most in the east region and are tied for most of any school in the country.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Currently in the midst of excellent 2025 campaigns, Kaite Burawski, Mya Jones and Madison D'Amato of the University of Bridgeport's softball team have all been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division II Players & Pitchers of the Year Watchlist. UB's three representatives are the most in the east region and are tied for most of any school in the country.
Burawski, who is a three-time All-Conference first-teamer and two-time conference Pitcher of the Year, has once again been superb to start 2025. The graduate student currently leads the CACC in strikeouts (104) while managing a 2.00 ERA (3rd, CACC) across 80.2 innings pitched. She also leads the conference with 11 complete games. Burawski has nine outings this season of allowing two or fewer runs. The Delaware native currently stands with a remarkable 918 career strikeouts in 658.2 innings of work. She holds a career ERA of 1.94.
Jones has been equally outstanding across 26 contests this season. The 2023 CACC Rookie of the Year and two-time All-Conference selection ranks first in the league in RBIs (32), third in batting average (.443) and third in on-base percentage (.500). Jones has recorded a hit in 12 of her last 14 games and has only struck out three times this entire season. She was named the CACC's Player of the Week this past Monday and currently stands with 116 career RBIs and 140 hits across 109 games as a Purple Knight.
D'Amato, who is currently on a 22-game hitting streak, is in the middle of a career year from the shortstop position. The sure-handed senior leads the CACC in several offensive categories, including total hits (38), batting average (.469) and on-base percentage (0.564). She is also ranked fourth in the country in runs scored per game (1.35). D'Amato serves as Bridgeport's team leader in a few other departments as well, including doubles (9), walks (16) and steals (10). She holds career numbers of 208 hits (.376 batting average), 174 runs and 111 walks in 179 career contests.
Burawski, Jones, D'Amato and the rest of UB's softball team (17-9, 7-1 CACC) will return to action this Saturday with a doubleheader at Chestnut Hill (1 p.m.).
