Softball's Jones and Burawski Garner CACC Weekly Awards

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Following an undefeated stretch last week, Mya Jones and Kaite Burawski of the University of Bridgeport's softball team were each honored with CACC weekly awards on Monday. Jones was tabbed as the conference's Co-Player of the Week while Burawski was named the league's Pitcher of the Week.
Jones, who picks up her third career CACC weekly award, was outstanding during UB's 4-0 stretch last week. The junior went 8-for-12 (.667) with six RBIs as Bridgeport earned sweeps against Bloomfield and Georgian Court. Jones also walked twice and scored three runs. She is now on an eight-game hitting streak while boasting a season batting average of .426 (3rd, CACC). Jones is also currently leading the CACC in RBIs with 28.
Burawski, who has now earned 13 career conference weekly awards, allowed just a single run across 12 frames of work (0.58 ERA). Remarkably, she averaged nearly two strikeouts per inning as she finished the stretch with 23 punchouts. Burawski also walked just two batters while scattering five hits. Burawski is currently the CACC's leader in strikeouts (100) and complete games (10) while boasting a 1.88 ERA (74.2 IP).
Jones, Burawski and the rest of the University of Bridgeport's softball team will return to action on Tuesday with a home doubleheader against Post (2:30 p.m.).
