Winter Haven, Fla.-The University of Bridgeport softball team scored four runs in the top of the first inning and never looked as the Purple Knights closed out their Florida Trip at 8-5 with and 8-1 victory over Slippery Rock University.
Senior Allison Luzzi (East Haven, Conn.) slugged three home runs in the game to give her seven on the Florida Trip.
Juniors Elyssa Marmolejo (Rialto, Calif.) and Kaira Ramon (Stamford, Conn.) each had two hits for the winners.
Freshman Kaite Burawski (Hartley, Del.) pitched two shutout innings to earn the win in the pitching circle.
