Clermont, Fla.-The University of Bridgeport softball team went 1-1 on day two of its Spring Break trip to Florida on Friday opening the day with a4-0 shutout over Mercyhurst and losing to Notre Dame of Ohio, 2-1, to close out the day. The Purple Knights are now 3-1 on the young season
Against Mercyhurst, graduate student Amanda Staheli (Pecatonica, Illinois) fired a two-hit shutout striking out five Lakers.
In game two, junior Samantha Sabor (Plainfield, Illinois) drove in UB's lone run in the bottom of the seventh inning, and the game ended with Bridgeport having runners on first and third.
On Saturday, the UB softball team will continues action in Florida facing Stonehill and Jefferson University.
