Clermont, Fla.-The University of Bridgeport softball team heads back north with a 4-10 overall record after going 1-2 on a bust final day of action on Friday in Florida. The Purple Knights fell 9-6 to the University of Sioux Falls and 4-0 versus Wayne State (Mich.) before closing out their Spring Trip with a 3-2 win over St. Michael's College in a game that completed after being suspended by weather on Thursday night.
Versus Wayne State, junior Jennine Walsh (Langley, B.C., Canada) fired a seven-hitter going the distance in the pitching circle.
Against St. Mike's, junior Brittney Maio (Branford, Conn.) knocked in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Senior Jessica Griesinger (Brewster, N.Y.) and sophomore Kerri Agrela (Smithfield. R.I.) drove in UB's other runs.
Sophomore Kaitlyn Lajoie (Vernon, Conn.) pitched a complete to earn the win for Bridgeport.
The UB softball team is next schedule to be in action at Post University on Monday afternoon.
