Purple Knights Wrap Up 2014 ECC Softball Schedule With Two Losses At Mercy
Team Will Close Out 2014 Campaign At AIC On Sunday
Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport softball team closed out its 2014 East Coast Conference schedule on Wednesday afternoon with a doubleheader at Mercy College, and the host Mavericks won both games taking the opener, 10-0 in five innings, and game two, 4-2. Bridgeport is now 18-28 overall and finishes at 11-17 in the ECC. Mercy is now 13-30 overall and 9-17 in conference play.
In game one, junior Jessica Griesinger (Brewster, N.Y.) led UB with three hits.
In the nightcap, freshman Ashley Hessler (Pawtucket, R.I.) had two hits including her first collegiate home run, and junior Sydney Phillips (Sebastopol, Calif.) went 3-for-4 with a run batted in.
The UB softball team will now close out the 2014 season at American International College in Springfield, Massachusetts with a Sunday doubleheader slated for a 12 noon start.
