Track and Field Squads Take Part in ECSU's Bonnie Edmonson Classic
Purple Knights make Friday trip up to Willimantic.
WILLIMANTIC, Conn. – Continuing their preparations for the 2025 CACC Championships in two weeks, the University of Bridgeport's track and field squads competed at Eastern Connecticut State's Bonnie Edmonson Classic on Friday.
Women's Recap
Anna-Mae Nellis continued her terrific debut season with another individual win and a pair of PRs. The graduate student earned top billing in the shot put with a new personal-best mark of 11.98m which is also a new school record.
Nellis also finished third in the javelin (33.92m) and recorded an outdoor PR in the discus (30.10m) to place sixth.
Freshman Abety Kivagheni secured a PR of her own on Friday. She managed a new personal-best mark of 4.78m in the long jump to place seventh.
Faith Hershberger, meanwhile, earned a CACC qualifying score in the pole vault. The graduate student secured fourth place with a mark of 2.35m.
On the running side of things, Stephanie Lickteig improved her PR in the 1500m with a fifth-place time of 5:26.59 while Julia Fortune placed eighth (5:40.52) in the same event.
Men's Recap
Dante Lingley provided UB's lone individual win on the men's side. The Maine native was triumphant in his outdoor debut in the 200-meter with a school-record time of 22.38.
Freshman Marvin Fenwick, Jr. also impressed with a pair of top-10 performances. He maneuvered a new PR and school record in the long jump (6.33m), which was good for ninth place, while also logging a fifth-place score in the triple jump (12.55).
Nick Migliarese, meanwhile, tossed a new PR in the hammer throw. The Florida native launched a school-record 42.69m to come in 10th place.
The Purple Knights also enjoyed top-10 performances on Friday from sophomores Damian Coles and John Panzera along with freshman Edoardo Vandelli.
Coles snagged sixth in the 400-meter dash (51.71) while Panzera finished runner-up in the 110-hurdles (15.55). Vandelli placed fifth in the 800.

The Purple Knights will compete at the Jack Maloney/Jim Barber Invitational next Saturday (April 26) at Southern Connecticut State.
