Track and Field Teams Battle Cold Conditions at SCSU's Wilton Wright Invitational
Purple Knights make quick trip to New Haven.
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Competing in their third meet of the season as complete units, the University of Bridgeport's track and field squads took part in SCSU's Wilton Wright Invitational this weekend (April 11-12) in New Haven.
MEN'S RECAP
Taking on freezing temperatures on Saturday, Dante Lingley provided UB with an individual victory in the 100-meter. The Maine native darted to a winning mark of 11.10.
Nick Migliarese, meanwhile, posted a new PR and school record on Friday. He put together a new lifetime best in the hammer with a mark of 40.67m.
Damian Coles also provided a highlight in the form of an eighth-place effort in the 200-meter (23.24).
The Purple Knights also teamed up to establish a school record in the 4x100 relay. UB's squad of Coles, Lingley, Migliarese and Nickolas Barba tallied a time of 43.27.
WOMEN'S RECAP
Graduate student Anna-Mae Nellis continued her sensational start to the season with two more solid marks this weekend. The Poughkeepsie, N.Y. native finished second in the javelin with a 35.82m and sixth in the shot put at 10.97m.
Fellow rookie Stephanie Lickteig also performed well courtesy of a new PR in the 5000m. She rattled off a CACC-qualifying time of 20:58.29 to finish ninth.
Bridgeport's most populous event of the meet was the women's 100-meter on Saturday. Kara Sampath led a contingent of six Purple Knights with a 20th-place time (13.83).

The Purple Knights will compete at ECSU's Bonnie Edmonson Classic next Friday (April 18).
